Pritzkat & Johnson Architects was born from the idea of providing clients with a high-level of design and technical expertise through the involvement of the company principals in every project – from a custom built home to a small scale kitchen or bathroom remodel. With more than 45 years architecture experience, Pritzkat & Johnson Architects designs distinctly creative yet functional spaces that are appropriate to the natural and built environment of Southern California. The firm works on projects throughout Southern California, with the majority built in the coastal cities.

Keith B. Johnson, Architect & Principal

Keith possesses broad experience in design and construction and is an expert in project delivery. Always adhering to the mantra form follows function, Keith was first intrigued by architecture when studying the scale, massing and structural design of his native Chicago’s famous skyscrapers.

Prior to starting Pritzkat & Johnson Architects, Keith served as a Designer at Edward Carson Beall & Associates for more than five years, lending his technical expertise to the firm’s residential and commercial projects. In 2005, Keith joined Miles on his new venture, which allowed him to further hone his design and project management skills. In 2008, he received his architectural license and shortly thereafter became a partner in the firm.

Keith received his Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

In his free time, Keith enjoys playing volleyball, expanding his music collection and spending time with his daughters Emma and Lucy at the beach.

Miles E. Pritzkat, Architect & Principal

Miles uses his artistic and technical experience to find creative and aesthetic design solutions based on the needs of each project. A third generation Southern California native, Miles developed his interest in architecture through frequent family trips to regional landmarks and historic sites, and a love of motion picture design. Miles strives for designs that make life easier, richer and more enjoyable.

A licensed architect since 1986, Miles worked for 24 years at Edward Carson Beall & Associates where he was the lead architect on hundreds of projects including large estates, custom residences and institutional projects such as the Eaton Canyon Nature Center and the Redondo Beach Pier renovation.

Miles received his Bachelor of Arts in architecture from the University of California – Berkley.

In his free time he enjoys paddleboarding, painting and playing keyboards in a local band. His daughter Caitlin is currently in graduate school and his twin boys, Austin and Brandon are attending UC Berkley & UC Santa Cruz respectively.

The Abalone Shell Logo

The abalone shell exemplifies our goal of linking timeless beauty in form and material while achieving function and strength. The rectangles emanating from the center of the shell are graphic representations of the additive and geometric growth pattern of the Golden Section (known to scientists as the Fibonacci sequence). These patterns and proportions have been used by artists and architects for thousands of years to govern the creation of the most beautiful works known to man. And so this simple key to beauty and strength is all contained in the once plentiful and now rare abalone shell.
